How to Manage Stress

How Do I Take Care Of My Heart And Blood Vessels?

By Diane Kusunose P.T., B.T., Galvanic Skin Response, Cold Laser Therapy, Homeopathy

How can I manage the "stress" in my life? Isn’t stress just part of all of our lives? Don’t we all just have to endure it as best we can?! I have observed that most people have the perception that stress comes from outside our bodies, intent on ruining our day. We deal with the work schedule, the pressures of finances, angry drivers on the freeway, and so forth. The mindset appears to be a general resignation to the fact that we have no control over this external stress at all. The key word here is our mindset.

If we allow stress to simply happen to us, then we have no control. There are external stresses in this world but there is internal stress as well. Adjusting how we deal with the internal stress is what we can control. We have choices to give our body what it needs to better handle the external stresses encountered. Set your mind to the fact that you are not a victim of stress but the master of it by governing the balance within you. The mind and body work in tandem, as we have learned from pioneers such as Norm Shealy, PhD, MD and other experts who formed the American Holistic Medical Association to further the understanding of the link between mind, body, and spirit in the healing process.

Begin with the mind and the body can shift. Begin with the body and the mind can shift. You DO have control. I will share with you one very important way to have this control and it involves managing care for your whole body and in particular the heart and blood vessels. Heart disease is the number ONE killer in the U.S. It is also a major cause of disability. The most common form of heart disease is narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, the direct blood supply to the heart. This is coronary artery disease and occurs slowly over time. It is the major reason people have heart attacks. How can it be prevented? This is where you have control!

  1. Monitor your blood pressure regularly especially if there is family history involving heart disease.
  2. Exercise regularly- find your preferred activity depending on your fitness level and age. Start with 10 minutes/day if this is all you can do. The fact is that exercise is a stress reducer. It reverses the stress response of fight/flight/freeze. This means we tighten up, get ready to run, and then we freeze in this state. Exercise gets the breath flowing, blood moving and the muscles relaxed and oxygenated. It thaws us from the freeze state. It does not have to be rigorous and time consuming to be effective.
  3. Don’t smoke.
  4. Ask your health professional for regular blood work to monitor blood sugar levels, cholesterol, triglyceride levels and other blood biomarkers. What you know allows you to take action early.
  5. Choose and increase the amount of organic fruits and vegetables and fresh local produce to your diet. If this is a new habit for you, know that there are lots of easy and healthy choices for making delicious smoothies with leafy greens, vegetables and fruits. Supplementary greens in liquid and powder forms are also helpful.
  6. Maintain a healthy weight. Staying active is staying healthy and independent. It is never too late to begin making lifestyle changes.
  7. To stop heart disease, cerebral vascular disease, and coronary artery disease you need to reduce oxidative stress. Oxidized cholesterol is one of the major risk factor. Prevent free radical damage with bioflavenoids, homeopathics, Bach flower remedies and supplements like CoQ10. Learn what you need personally for the best prevention.
  8. Allow yourself to rest and get the appropriate amount of time to sleep. Sleep comes easily for some of us and is very difficult for others. Sleep deprivation robs us of precious detoxification since the majority of this rejuvenation process occurs while we sleep.
  9. Reduce microorganism toxic influences and reduce internal inflammation.

Here at Healthwalk our team of professionals can assist you in all these steps of empowerment. We have the leading edge technologies to do the most thorough analysis and the tools and solutions so you can manage and alleviate the internal stress response to prevent heart disease and other illnesses.

A client came into Healthwalk concerned with heart palpitations and insomnia which began two months prior to her visit. She reported emotional stress due to losing her job. She had her blood labs prior to her clinic visit so we could see from the lab results that her LDL cholesterol and other indicators were in an unhealthy range. Using Galvanic Skin Response Biofeedback, GSR we identified her current imbalances and solutions to return her to a healthy balance. Through Vital Hematology Live Blood Analysis we could analyze and offer supplements and lifestyle changes to address the microorganisms and toxins observed. MindSoul Brain Technology assessment and rebalancing of her brain waves to help her insomnia and sleep deprivation.

She visited with our Nutritionist to learn appropriate nutrition for her, stress management tips and how to stay truly hydrated using HealthWalk’s Hydromag™ water treatment products for her liquid intake. The client began taking digestive enzymes to assist in the healthy break down of ingested fats, vascular terrain homeopathic and flower remedy support, Super CoQ10-zyme and Methoxy-zyme to reduce inflammation and prevent cholesterol oxidation (causing oxidation stress), and HealthWalk’s Rupronol™ to reduce the number of microorganisms (parasites, bacteria etc) in the body.

After one month and five MindSoul Brain Technology sessions to balance the brain waves needed for sound sleep, she has been sleeping well ever since. After six months she is now on a maintenance program and at her blood lab recheck, her cholesterol and other blood indicators are in a healthy range. Her stress is reduced and she has been able to focus and present herself much better on her job search and in fact has accepted one of two exciting job offers.
