Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome, Digestive Issues and the Road to Regaining My Life Back.
By Julie Gengo
As I mentioned in my July article on hydration, I have lived with Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS) since my first year of college back in 1979. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported in June 2007 that an estimated 2.54 percent of Americans live with this chronic illness. That translates into almost 8 million of us; an astonishing number of people who feel really lousy. I was one of those sufferers who literally lost days of my life due to pain and exhaustion. I was also susceptible to every cold and flu bug that was going around. In addition, the fogginess of my brain made life frustrating.
My experiences with the conventional medical community always left me feeling even more frustrated as the lack of knowledge surrounding this illness seemed to be the norm. After seeing several general practitioners, I was usually prescribed medications that treated the symptoms. On one occasion, it was recommended that I try a low dose of an anti-depressant that supposedly would make my brain function better thus allowing me a better night’s rest and mental clarity. Sleeping was never an issue; I always slept soundly throughout the night. I chose not to try this route, as the risk of side effects seemed counterproductive for my already compromised immune system.
I finally found relief through the advice of a nutritionist and Kinesiology. At one point my body systems where so depleted of nutrients that I tested positive for every food and environmental allergen that I was exposed to through my allergy tests. I was put on a rotational diet, eliminated the most common allergens such as wheat/gluten, diary, corn and soy and took a large amount of supplements daily and small doses (in liquid form) of the foods that I was allergic to. This system worked for a while; however I still wasn’t addressing the root of the problem. At HealthWalk, our specialty is to seek out the “why,” the root cause of each person’s symptoms. That’s where Vital Hematology and Galvanic Skin Response (G.S.R.) come into play in a profound manner.
Having your blood analyzed is crucial to understanding why the body is functioning the way it does. When our blood is infested with parasites, microorganisms and bacteria that are constantly attacking red blood cells, how can the body to do its job well? Meanwhile white blood cells go on the defense to deal with the invaders and end up over-responding, sucking up vital energy along the way. Organs in the body stop functioning efficiently and things become very messy internally. My body wasn’t properly absorbing nutrients and CFIDS was the result.
The process of Vital Hematology™ at HealthWalk is simple and the results are immediate. With a painless prick of the finger, the practitioner and you can view your blood live magnified up to 30,000 times using the only Richardson Technology Microscope available for public diagnostic use (there are only sixteen in the world). Seeing this in real time is certainly impressive and illuminating of what is actually going on in your body.
When I saw and learned about my unsavory friends, a.k.a. parasites that were evidentially having a ball inside of me, the HealthWalk professionals recommended that I take a natural anti-parasitic supplement. This in conjunction with the regimen determined through my Galvanic Skin Response, G.S.R. analysis, I was able to feel progress within a few weeks. After years of discomfort, I was finally going after the culprits in my system and eliminating them.
G.S.R. complements Vital Hematology in that it provides essential information about how the cells and body are functioning with regard to nutrients and their absorption. Applying leading edge science and technology to the foundation of Applied Kinesiology, G.S.R. provides a powerful and accurate scientific method of rapid analysis. By measuring the conductivity (energy wave measurements) of the skin, G.S.R. can determine the autonomic nervous systems responses to stress. The body’s meridians, vertebrae, teeth and organs are scanned and a stress profile is determined, which shows where and why the body is experiencing sensitivity/stress. The other amazing thing about G.S.R. is that it can pinpoint stressors or sensitivity to food, environment, chemicals, viruses, bacteria and fungus. It’s an allergy test without the poking and irritation to the skin and body; a process that introduces known and potential allergens into the body which can further stress the system. In fact, G.S.R. is such a clear and non-invasive process that it makes the visit and work with the practitioner fun. Seeing the computer images of my GSR response profile in real time helped me to understand how out of balance I really was and encouraged me to want to find the internal and external harmony that I know will leave me CFIDS free forever.
My G.S.R. results showed me what foods I needed to avoid for a while and which foods my body needed. I was also put on a digestive supplementation regime that included HealthWalk’s BioNue™ – a super probiotic formula and a homeopathic solution to help my body begin to rebuild and to start processing proteins and carbohydrates properly. My digestive issues that were a big problem in inciting my chronic fatigue symptoms are almost completely gone. I am ecstatic to report that I truly feel vibrant and healthy. What a pleasure it is for me to be on the HealthWalk team where we support so many people in regaining and maintaining their optimal health and where I also get to experience that for myself!
